PST Mission Statement - Penguin Swim Team
PST Mission
We are a non-profit organization which exists
for the purpose of sponsoring a youth competitive swimming activity in Nevada County.
We foster self esteem and encourage sportsmanship among our members.
Our program is designed to meet the needs of every swimmer, from those who
want to simply improve their skills, to the very serious competitor.
Parent Responsibilities
The success of the Penguin Swim Team depends on the support of the parents.
Parents are needed in different committees in order for the club to function efficiently.
Support also includes taking your swimmer to practices and meets, and helping at the meets.
We do not have mandatory fundraising, and we have scaled back our fundraising efforts.
Even so, a certain amount of fundraising is necessary, and we hope that everyone will do
his or her share.
Summary
Swimming is a wonderful sport with many advantages.
It is healthy, and promotes development of body and mind.
It requires self-organization, commitment and discipline, which carry over into school
and other activities. By being available to girls and boys of all ages,
it encourages broad and well-rounded social development.
Many lasting friendships are made on the team as well as with members of other teams.
The Penguin Swim Team is a great group of people who grow, work and laugh together.
Swimming is a family affair!
